"Get up and do something! You'll feel better." That was my own mother's counsel and it is, to this day, the mantra for her own life. She is a healthy, vigorous, beautiful 73 years young! I'm so grateful she never let me wallow in any negative emotion. Feel it? Good. Now, let's move on. Gods' got better days ahead for us.
From both my mother and my husband's mother, I heard the message clearly: You will only feel better if you get out of that pit and get moving. YOU can change your paradigm. God put the power for change and growth and strength inside you. Your troubles and your situation may not be different, but you will feel differently about them once you step outside yourself. Everything will feel lighter and hope will bloom as you
- Do something for someone else.
- Pray for the troubles in another person's life.
- Get engaged in a cause that's bigger than you.
- Get out of your head and live in the real world. If you are living consumed by you-world, we'll know it. It will be reflected on the outside of you. By your words. By your attitudes. By your actions.
- Be kinder than necessary to everyone you meet.
- Love extravagantly.
- Walk generously; overflowing in forgiveness and in grace.
Listen, friends. God's got us. If we can ever get that, our lives will change. Spend a lot of time with Him. Talk to Him, read His love letters to you, hang out with His other kids -- Really Friends who will encourage your strong walk with Him.
So, missing my mother-in-law, but cannot get her words out of my head. Beyond grateful that my mother is still working circles around me and that her life and principles have shaped my own! Thanks, Moms. Your strength and love are ever with me.
What will you do today? Are you going to stay where you are or will you move on? Your choice. Go.
